Quick Start Guide

Get set up and insert tags automatically in less than 2 minutes.

Step 1: Licensing

Your plugin is secured and locked to your specific machine. Follow these steps to activate it:

  1. Open the Command Prompt (CMD) on your Windows computer.
  2. Type the following command exactly and press Enter:
    wmic csproduct get UUID
  3. Copy the long string of letters and numbers that appears.
  4. Email this UUID to arabiana2008@gmail.com to receive your license.
  5. Once you receive your license file, create a new folder on your computer at exactly C:\TWAS.
  6. Place your newly received license_tagworks.dat file directly inside this folder.

Step 2: AI Configuration

Tagworks uses a "Bring Your Own Key" (BYOK) model. Connect it to your preferred AI provider:

  1. Open Trados Studio and navigate to the Home tab in the Editor view.
  2. Locate the TWAS Tagworks group on the ribbon and click Tagworks Settings.
  3. Choose your preferred AI provider (ChatGPT, Gemini, or OpenRouter) and enter your API key.
  4. Select a model from the dropdown.
Pro Tip: We highly recommend selecting models marked as [⭐ Recommended - Fast & Cheap] (like gpt-4o-mini or gemini-2.5-flash). They are incredibly fast, cost fractions of a cent, and are highly accurate for mechanical tag insertion.
  5. Check the Set as default provider box and click Save.

Step 3: How to Use Tagworks

Fixing broken or missing tags is now just a single click away.

  1. In the Trados Editor, select (highlight) one or more segments that are missing tags or have formatting errors.
  2. Go to the Home tab and locate the TWAS Tagworks group.
  3. For Automatic Tagging: Click Automatic API Tagging. The plugin will securely contact your default AI provider, calculate the exact tag placements, and instantly insert them into your target text.
  4. For Manual Tagging: Click Manual AI Tagging. This generates a strictly formatted prompt. Copy it, paste it into your favorite free AI web chat (like ChatGPT or Claude), copy the AI's response, and paste it back into the Tagworks dialog to apply the tags.

Step 4: Customizing Your Ribbon (Optional)

By default, Tagworks places its buttons on the Home tab. For maximum convenience, you can create your own dedicated Ribbon tab or group just for your AI tools!

  1. In Trados Studio, go to the View tab and click Ribbon Customization (or right-click the empty gray space of the ribbon and select Customize Ribbon...).
  2. In the window that appears, look at the right-hand column. Click New Tab or select an existing tab and click New Group.
  3. Rename your new tab/group to something like "My AI Tools" or "Tagworks".
  4. In the left-hand column, change the "Choose commands from" dropdown to All Commands.
  5. Scroll down to find the Automatic API Tagging, Manual AI Tagging, and Tagworks Settings actions.
  6. Select them and click the Add >> button in the middle to move them to your custom group.
  7. Click OK to save. Your Tagworks buttons are now perfectly positioned exactly where you want them!
